‘Sail Away With Me’ is part of a series of theater events for one audience member at a time entitled <In The End We Are All Alone>, this time taking place on a boat, looked on as found architecture and inspired by historical theatrical traditions that used boats as entertainment ships and traveling theaters.
Sail Away With Me takes place on an old, oak boat that theater director Tormod Carlsen and scenographer Heidi Dalene have restored in collaboration with their associates. After 30 years on land the boat is seaworthy once again, but now as a theater boat.
This is the third and final one-person theater in the series «In The End We Are All Alone». In this series, Carlsen and Dalene make small theater experiences for one audience member at a time. The work is inspired by outmoded theatrical traditions, street fair amusements and ways of thinking about architecture. This time they explore the boat as found architecture, as well as historical theater traditions that used boats as entertainment ships and travelling theaters.
The pull of the sea and new horizons is wrapped in a mystique of freedom and escape, but also loneliness and longing for community. Life at sea is the theatrical, spatial and social context of this piece, or what Carlsen refers to as its life form. Welcome aboard to a meditation on the sea and a poetic journey into the unknown.

Sail Away With Me finner sted på en gammel eikebåt som scenekunstner Tormod Carlsen og scenograf Heidi Dalene har restaurert sammen med gode samarbeidspartnere. Etter tretti år på land er båten sjødyktig igjen, nå som en teaterbåt.
Dette er det tredje og siste enmannsteatret i serien «In The End We Are All Alone». I denne serien lager Carlsen og Dalene små teateropplevelser for én og én publikummer, inspirert av utdødde teatertradisjoner, markedsforlystelser og måter å tenke arkitektur på. Denne gangen utforsker de båten som funnen arkitektur og teaterhistoriske tradisjoner for å bruke båter som underholdningsskip og omreisende teatre.
En dragning mot havet og nye horisonter er innhyllet i en mystikk av flukt og frihet men også ensomhet og lengsel etter fellesskap. Havet og båtlivet utgjør forestillingens teatrale, romlige og sosiale kontekst, eller livsform. Publikum inviteres ombord til en meditasjon over havet og en poetisk reise inn i det ukjente.
